Used Clutch Master Cylinder Replacements
The clutch master cylinder on your vehicle sends hydraulic pressure to the clutch slave cylinder. The slave cylinder controls the movement of the throw out bearing to operate the clutch on a standard transmission. Over time, your master cylinder can wear out, causing a loss of pressure. This loss in pressure results in less pressure to the slave cylinder and a decrease in clutch performance. When you need a new clutch master cylinder, enter your information into the parts finder at the top of this page to find a low cost replacement.
A master cylinder takes the mechanical pressure that is applied when you depress the clutch pedal and changes it to hydraulic pressure. The cylinder contains a piston that moves inside. The piston compresses the hydraulic fluid in the cylinder to create pressure. The hydraulic pressure is then transferred to the slave cylinder through a high-pressure hose or metal tube.
When you remove the master cylinder, cap any hydraulic lines that are attached. Capping the lines prevent the loss of excess fluid and keeps debris out of the system. You should inspect the hydraulic lines for any damage or leaks. In addition, you should replace all gaskets or seals including the o-ring for the hydraulic connection. Just like brake fluid, the clutch fluid you use should be free of any debris. The system also needs to be bled to remove any air bubbles.
Before you begin a master cylinder replacement project, make sure you have all of the tools and supplies you need to complete the job. You will need to use fresh fluid, purchase enough to allow for bleeding the system. We can help you find a clutch master cylinder for sale to fit your vehicle quickly.
